A DNA virus is a virus that has DNA as its genetic material and rely on DNA to replicate itself, using a DNA polymerase as a DNA-dependent. Nucleic acids which have usually double-stranded DNA (dsDNA / double stranted-DNA) but can also single-stranded DNA (ssDNA / single stranted-DNA). DNA viruses have a Group I or Group II of the Baltimore classification system for viruses. Single-stranded DNA viruses usually develop into a double chain while stranded in infected cells. Although Group VII viruses such as hepatitis B contain genomic DNA, they are not considered DNA viruses according to the classification of Baltimore, but otherwise the virus replicate themselves because they replicate via RNA intermediaries.
